Woodland Burials & Eco-Friendly Funerals

Over recent years people have been planning for a more natural funeral, choosing to be laid to rest in a woodland or other outdoor setting.

T.A. Ellement & Son is more than happy to arrange such a service and have been leading the way in more environmentally-friendly funerals across the boroughs of Hillingdon and Harrow.

We are here to advise, guide and support you whatever your funeral requirements, and we can fully explain all of the options available.

Peace and Tranquillity

A woodland funeral usually takes place in natural burial grounds, or designated woodland burial sites in larger cemeteries. There are now 260 natural burial grounds around the country with the nearest being situated in West Drayton and the largest in the UK at Chiltern’s Woodland Burial Park. Woodcock Hill Cemetery in nearby Rickmansworth is just one of the local cemeteries that have a special woodland area.

Serene Setting

Designed to look as much like a meadow or forest as possible, a natural burial ground does not permit headstones or other traditional funeral details but you are still welcome to visit and pay your respects.

Some woodland burial settings will allow you to plan a memorial tree or to scatter wild-flower seeds that will bloom every year.

Dedicated Coffins

As you would expect, for a more environmentally-aware funeral, we provide a selection of bespoke coffins.

At T.A. Ellement & Sons we specialise in unique biodegradable coffins, as well as a range of beautiful willow and wicker coffins. If you are unsure as to just what a woodland burial involves, then ask a member of our experienced staff as they will be able to explain all the available options.

We can also assist with any questions you may have about shrouds and garments.

Urns

Should you wish to, at T.A. Ellement, we are now also able to provide eco-friendly urns following cremation. Our staff can talk you through the various choices and we currently have a range of urns available in willow and bamboo among others.
